New IRS Filing Deadline For Government Copies Of W2’S And 1099’S

Typically W2’s and 1099’s are due out to the recipients by January 31^st  and the government copies are due by February 28^th.   However, starting this upcoming tax season the IRS/government copies will also be due on January 31^st.  What does this mean for Business owners?

1. Make sure ALL of your employee tax id’s, addresses, and filing status’ are updated before year end.
2. Make sure ALL of your 1099 contractors fill out W9 forms before year end.
3. Make sure payroll software is fully updated.
